FIRST CYCLE COMMENTS PART ONE/Нэгдүгээр үеийн сэтгэгдлүүд
FIRST CYCEL/In response to Huw Andrew’s request
Louise Atkinson: I am also interested in communication and exchange and particularly how these are informed culturally. Common gestures and phrases can be rendered unintelligible or even offensive when taken out of cultural context. In relation to currency, the current economic crisis also strengthens cultural divides as each country struggles for economic stability.
Marina de Stacpoole:Artists are in a significant position to use the internet as a tool of dissemination, exchange and communication. Through shared experience of one another’s work, barriers can be crossed with time and distance being obstacles of a past era.
Enkhbat Lantuu:Mongolia’s has been affected greatly by the world’s economic crisis. In my opinion, ‘communication’ is also about agreements (verbal or written) between countries and people. ‘Exchange’ is closely related with commerce and currency.
Zesee Sodnomtseren: Personally, I think ‘communication’ has a wide conceptual meaning to it and it is a measurement of something unrestricted, but ‘exchange’ is confined and its form is based on activities. Country like Mongolia has limited internal manufacturing, relies on foreign investments heavily, therefore, she has been affected badly by this economic turmoil throughout of the world.
